In collaboration with UNICEF, the team of the "Peaceful Heaven of Kharkiv" Charitable Foundation visited the town of Zlatopil to conduct a mine safety session for children.

During the meeting, participants learned how to recognize explosive hazards, what to do if they find one, and why following simple safety rules can save lives.

“Today, Ukraine ranks first in the world by the number of mined territories. Kharkiv region is among the most contaminated areas,” — said Kristina Koliy, Head of the EORE Department of the Foundation.

Since children are the most vulnerable group, the lessons are held in an engaging and accessible format — through games, cartoons, and quests. This approach helps kids better absorb essential safety rules: how to behave when encountering mines, where to seek help, and how to protect themselves and their loved ones.

“The talk was very interesting. We learned about different types of mines. I live in an area where there are mines, so it’s very dangerous. This lecture was truly useful for me,” — shared Sofia, a resident of Zlatopil.

Such sessions raise awareness and enhance safety among local communities — and most importantly, help save lives.
