Charity as an Industry: Serhii Chubukov on the Future of Good Deeds in Ukraine

Working for money and working from the heart are not mutually exclusive. Earning a living and helping others can be done simultaneously. This is the belief held by Serhii Chubukov, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Peaceful Heaven of Kharkiv Charitable Foundation.

“This is exactly how major international charitable organizations operate. This is also the future of Ukraine’s charity sector. And the term ‘industry’ in this case is no exaggeration. Let me share a few figures. According to Forbes research, in 2023, the funds allocated to charity in Ukraine were equivalent to 2–2.5% of the country’s GDP. The sector’s growth is also reflected in increasing tax contributions. For instance, our foundation increased this indicator by 74% in 2024 compared to 2023,” says Serhii Chubukov.
