“I just want the shelling to stop and the war to end…”
The story of Valentina Rak from Dergachi is about living under shelling, enduring the cold in her own home, and regaining hope thanks to the support of caring people.
In April 2022, Ms. Valentina’s house was damaged as a result of shelling: the blast wave shattered the windows, and for the following years she was forced to live in a home where the temperature was only 10–12°C. Due to her low pension and significant medical expenses, she was unable to restore the house on her own.
As part of a multi-sectoral assistance project, the team of the Peaceful Heaven of Kharkiv Charitable Foundation installed 8 windows and a door for Ms. Valentina to help restore warmth and safe living conditions in her home.

The project is being implemented by the Ukrainian Educational Platform in partnership with the Peaceful Heaven of Kharkiv Charitable Foundation with funding from the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund. As part of the initiative, residents of the Kharkiv region received multi-purpose cash assistance, psychosocial support, and support with humanitarian housing repairs.
