On September 18, residential buildings in Sumy were damaged as a result of a strike. The very next day, the Peaceful Heaven of Kharkiv Charitable Foundation, in partnership with UNICEF, began providing assistance to people whose homes had been affected. A total of 101 hygiene kits and 48 children’s backpacks were distributed.
“After something like this, it is difficult to return to your normal life right away, especially when you have children at home. It is very important that the assistance arrived almost immediately,” says Olena, a resident of Sumy.
After a strike, every day matters. While people recover from what they have experienced, clear away the damage, and try to restore their daily lives, they need essential items right away.
That is why a rapid response is such an important part of humanitarian work — assistance should reach people when they need it most.
