At the Southern City Public Library, the team of the Peaceful Heaven of Kharkiv Charitable Foundation conducted a mine safety session for children.
The participants learned about the main risks associated with mines, explosive ordnance and drones, as well as the rules of safe behavior. In addition to the traditional learning format, the children tried VR headsets that allow them to practice identifying dangerous objects in a virtual environment and learn how to properly report a suspicious find.
“We are starting the new school year with safety rules. The children enjoy the material, and today we also had a chance to try virtual reality headsets. It is unfortunate that we have to learn about mine safety, but it is good that children have the opportunity to gain this knowledge. We hope they will never need to use it in real life,” said Hanna Shcherbak, Deputy Principal for Educational Work at Pivdenne Lyceum.
The project is implemented in cooperation with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) with financial support from the Government of Japan.
