Mine safety educators from the charitable foundation Peaceful heaven of Kharkiv held asession for students of Mykolaiv Special School No. 6. The school serves children with hearing and speech impairments, so the lectures included signlanguage interpretation. A total of 52 students and their educators participated in the session.

"Ukraine is the most heavily mined country in the world. Therefore, basic knowledge of mine safety is not just interesting information but a matterof survival. We conduct such sessions in all regions of Ukraine where there isa high risk of encountering explosive devices," said the project managerof the Peaceful heaven of Kharkiv Foundation, Kristina Kolii.

The educators held two lectures: the first for younger children and thesecond for educators and teenagers. The format of the sessions varied: the mine safety information for children was presented in a more accessible manner. The highlight of the children's lecture was a cartoon, along with 3D models of dangerous items, which captured the children's attention. All participants received gifts, including themed books, stickers, and coloring books.

"The information session was very engaging, with material tailored tothe age characteristics of the audience. The team worked harmoniously and established excellent contact with our children. It’s important that thechildren understood the rules to follow to protect their lives and the lives oftheir loved ones," said Irina Selivanova-Zerkal, Director of Mykolaiv Special School No. 6.

The next day, similar sessions were held in Kherson.
