As part of the work of mobile teams within the SMINA project, implemented by the Peaceful Heaven of Kharkiv Charitable Foundation in partnership with WeWorld and funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), 8,836 schoolchildren in Mykolaiv Oblast participated in mine risk education sessions between October and June.
During the sessions, children gained basic knowledge about the risks associated with explosive ordnance, learned how to identify potential threats, and became familiar with safe behaviour procedures in case such hazards are discovered.
These are practical skills that help build a culture of safety and reduce risks in circumstances where mine contamination remains one of the key threats to the civilian population.

The implementation of such initiatives has been made possible thanks to the partnership with WeWorld, which enables the scaling up of educational activities and strengthens children's safety awareness within communities. This is a contribution to the long-term safety and resilience of the region.
