Kherson under attack: 99 homes restored in a month.

There has been another wave of significant destruction in Kherson due to enemy shelling. At least four guided aerial bombs were dropped by Russian forces on the central part of the city. The building of the Kherson Regional State Administration, residential apartment buildings, and an educational institution were damaged.

The enemy strikes the city and surrounding communities daily. The number of destroyed homes continues to grow.

"One strike — and a house becomes uninhabitable. It’s impossible to carry out a full-scale repair quickly. And in most cases, it's pointless, because there might be another strike tomorrow. That’s why we’ve developed a clear mechanism to help Kherson residents. If we fix the roof and board up the windows with panels, residents will be protected from rain, wind, and cold. Such repairs don’t take much time: our repair teams can restore several homes in a day. If the damage is more serious, repairs take a few days," says Oleksii Bezhan, head of the Kherson branch of the Peaceful Heaven of Kharkiv Charitable Foundation.

In May alone, our four teams — 16 people in total — restored 99 homes. They worked in the Korabelnyi, Dnipro, and Central districts of the city, as well as in the villages of Zelenivka and Komyshany.

The housing restoration project is implemented with funding from the Ukrainian CSO Fund of the National Network for the Development of Local Philanthropy and supported by the Disasters Emergency Committee and Start Network.
